AYS Selects James Beard Foundation as Beneficiary for 14th Annual BNP Paribas Taste of Tennis

“The James Beard Foundation is the standard by which culinary excellence is measured. We are honored to be working with the Foundation and we are excited to name them as our beneficiary for this year’s BNP Paribas Taste of Tennis,” said Judi Lerner, President of AYS. Founded in 1986, the James Beard Foundation’s mission is to celebrate, nurture and honor America’s diverse culinary heritage through programs that educate and inspire. This marks the first time the James Beard Foundation has been chosen as a beneficiary for the Taste.

BNP Parbias Taste of Tennis Features James Beard Chefs

Many of our chefs have been recipients of the Foundation’s scholarships and awards. Earlier this year at the 2013 ceremony, Headling Chef Marcus Samuelsson became a five-time James Beard Award-winning chef, when his book Yes, Chef: A Memoir won the Writing and Literature Award. Previously, he has been lauded as “Rising Star Chef” and “Best Chef: New York City” and for “Best International Cookbook” in 1999, 2003 and 2007, respectively. Floyd Cardoz was a James Beard Award nominee for Best Chef: NYC in 2004, 2005, 2006, and 2007. The James Beard Foundation had also awarded Michael Solomonov “Best Chef: Mid-Atlantic.” Jonathan Waxman was a James Beard Award nominee, Best Chef: NYC, 2013 and David Burke was a multiple recipient as well with “Who’s Who of Food & Beverage in America,” 2009 and a James Beard Award-nominee for “Best Chef: NYC” in 1995 and 2006.
