Day 5  |

The days are starting to pile up and they seem to fade into each other as it is very hot humid and extremely packed with practices and matches.

Waking up in Mason Ohio is a beauty as the sun was rising above the Golf Course

Another early start however taking time to have a workout is a must and luckily they have a great gym at the site! Most of the equipment is there for match warmups and cool downs with primarily bike’s and Cardio equipment! Now a days there is not one player on your who does not do this and most of them travel now with coach and a 2nd person either a trainer Physio or physical trainer. I remember in 1994 when working with Marry Pierce that we were one if the very few to have a full time physical trainer with us. Some told us we were crazy and it would only make her tiered, until she won the Australian. open in 1995.

What the future will bring is more mental coaches as the sport is evolving developing and improving each year.

On day 5 there was also an announcement about the WTA partnering with SAP to provide even more statistic for players fans and coaches. I look forward to see this being integrated with on court coaching. Plus the ITF recently announced that Smart equipment will be allowed on court in the 2014 season. Our www.gpstennis.com app will come in handy for all levels of play.

During yesterday’s warmup Kiki was already breaking a heavy sweat at 10:30 am with humidity and sun rising

Yesterday was also the day of the 1st round matches and unfortunately it did not turn out to good for Kiki Mladanovic and Monica Puig. However Maria Kirilenko and Angelique Kerber won in three sets and battled through in the heat.

Today will be the day for Daniela Hantuchova Ana Ivanovic and Caroline Wozniacki to battle their opponents and the conditions.

After being on tour for 23 you make a lot of Friends and it is great that at so many places you have the chance to catch up. Tex is the first Friend I met traveling the pro tennis world and thanks to him I am living my dream on the tour because of an introduction in 1991 to a player named Monica Seles.

Last night it was great to catch up after a long day at the tennis with my dear friends at the house of Tex and daughter Lise. (Niclas Genovese, myself, Yury Bettoni, Tex Swain, Lise Swain, Thomas Shubert. )
