Yesterday started out with Rain and what to do when it rains option 1 is wait option 2 is to call my friend Tex Swain (with whom I am staying this week and is a pro here in Mason).
Tex was able to get Caroline an indoor court but it was not easy because of the many indoor events and popularity of tennis in this area!
As I mentioned yesterday there 100’s of volunteers that work around the clock to make this tournament a great success! Yesterday was a very hectic day for the people at transport because all of the players were requesting pick ups from the airport! There is a special tent set up where many drivers and planners working hard to pick up everybody!
Walking around the grounds is a piece of cake these past 2 days but from tomorrow on it will be full house when the public will come out in full for practise sessions and qualifying event!
Yesterday the draw was made and I was asked to attend the draw ceremony, which is a very big tradition and a 1000+ people are coming out and witness the draw!
During this ceremony the tournament asked me to give my “expert advice” to the crowd about the entire women’s and men’s draws! Pete Holterman asked me the questions and made it an easy task! I loved it!
One of the practices I had was with Caroline Wozniacki and with Shuai Peng and as it turned out they play each other in the 1st round! When I send a text to Caroline she thought I was joking with her!
Caroline was well represented and everybody who knows me they know I love orange as a color! Her new adidas shoes are a killer!
Today will be long day with practise sessions with Ivanovic Woznaicki Mladanovic and qualifying matches of Morita and Mchale! Fingers crossed it does not rain
