Day 1 in Cincinnati

Yesterday was my first day in Cinci! on my arrival the day before at cinci aiport you can understand it is a big event if you are welcomed by a big billboard with the tournament on it!

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

This tournament has a great history and is the oldest tennis tournament in the states on tour, started in 1899.

 

It has a great tradition and the tournament is mainly supported by 100’s of volunteers! Something that in the USA is unique at all of the events and gives it a personal and local touch of the area!

 

Besides getting on court with Ayumi Mortia and Christina Mchale I also watched Monica Puig breaking a sweat out on the practise courts!

 

 

 

 

Qualifying will start on Saturday and today will be a full day of practise again! More players will be getting in for the tournament and it will start to get busy and harder to get the practise courts! Although in the past few year the tournament has really been upgraded! As you can see that practise schedules are starting to fill up on the 14 courts that are available on site (off site there are many more but it does take time out of your schedule and the courts are not the same!

 

 

 

 

 

 

Hopefully the weather hold as yesterday we he had a few showers and the humidity will play a big role this week and will also take its toll on the players when they are out there in the heat!

To be honest I never ever attended a full weekend of Davis Cup. So that is why I needed to take my parents as they also never experienced this phenomenon.
