Caroline Wozniacki took to Twitter late on Tuesday in an attempt to quell rumors that she is about to sign a new coaching deal with Maria Sharapova’s ex-coach, Thomas Hogstedt: “Funny how busy the media is to find me a new coach! How about stop making stories and assumptions, I will let you know if anything new happens!” . . .

Angelique Kerber will make her Washington debut at the Citi Open held July 27-August 4 at the William H.G. Fitzgerald Tennis Center in Rock Creek Park.  Kerber will claim the top seed of the tournament, with  Sloane Stephens as the second seed.  Nadia Petrova, the 2011 Citi Open champ, has withdrawn from the tournament this week due to a hip injury. Petrova joins Romina Oprandi who also had to withdraw due to a right shoulder injury. Paula Ormaechea and Olga Puchkova replace them. . .

Wimbledon champion Marion Bartoli has been on whirlwind media tour and finally picked up a racket again on Tuesday. She says that she is likely to play both the Bank of the West Classic and Southern California Open. . .

Thailand’s Danai Udomchoke says the Germany Embassy denied his visa so he had to cancel a tournament in Segovia. . .

Rafael Nadal says that he is planning on playing Spain’s Davis Cup tie in Mallorca in September.

That Caroline Wozniacki is no longer under contract to Yonex, her representatives say. Wozniacki has been playing with a blacked-out racket this spring and it appears that Yonex tore up their contract because of that. Some say that Wozniacki has been playing with a Babolat,  but she has yet to sign a new deal with the French company or any other  racket company.
