A coaching arrangement between Caroline Wozniacki and Maria Sharapova’s recently dismissed coach Thomas Hogstedt is not imminent, Daily Tennis has learned. In fact, Wozniacki’s representatives are saying that the former No. 1 has no plans to change coaches and time soon despite comments issued by her father Piotr last spring that he wants to step down. Wozniacki’s representatives say that there are no concrete plans for that to happen. Piotr Wozniacki has issued such statements in the past – largely out of frustration as his daughter’s lack of progress – and then changed his mind later.
Some members of the Danish press still believe that Wozniacki will eventually hire another coach and believe that Hogstedt may still be a possibility as he knows both Caroline and Piotr well and coached her a little as a junior.
The 10th ranked Wozniacki will begin her summer hard court campaign in Toronto.
