Many of you in the tennis world are intrigued by the fact that Roger Federer, the greatest tennis player of all time, is trying out a brand new Wilson frame in place of his old faithful which has won him 17 Grand Slam Titles. Wilson, the most prestigious American racket company, has been working with Roger throughout his entire career and is supporting him through this transitional period.

In the past 30 years, the Wilson Pro Staff frame has been in the hands of players like Jimmy Connors, Chris Evert, Pete Sampras, Stefan Edberg, Jim Courier, and Richard Krajicek, just to name a few. Wilson has even produced signature models of the Pro Staff in the case of Jack Kramer, and more recently, Roger Federer. You’ve all seen the players’ signature on the rackets right? So please keep in mind that racket companies these days have the ability to customize or build frames for their players. Another case in point, Wilson acquired many Head racket users a few years ago (Gulbis and Mathieu to name a couple), and systematically built them customized rackets that they were comfortable with using immediately.

Which brings us to the point of this story and all the spectulation over Roger’s new “blacked out” frame he’s been seen hitting with in Hamburg this week. The popular “public” consensus that the racket is the current Wilson Blade 98 racket, due to its similar shape and color. I’m here to tell you from insiders’ info that it is not the Blade. I repeat, it is NOT the Blade 98 frame; According to legitimate sources. It is actually a prototype that Roger and Wilson have been developing together for a few weeks now. The Wilson design team came up with numerous test models and apparently Roger really likes the one he’s chosen for Hamburg. No word on a name or anything but it looks like the Roger Federer Pro Staff just got a remodeling :) It’s secret stuff too so keep it on the hush hush okay?

Who’s excited to see Roger in action with the new frame though? I know I am!!!
