Years and years ago Many said Roger Federer would benefit by playing with a little larger head. Not his head. His Wilson rackets head. Why ? Because its a bit of an adjustment but its also a bit of an advantage. Pete Sampras did it. He found especially on the clay and the grass he was happier with his results with the larger head racket. More forgiving. More surface to reach for a shot.

It’s tennis dirty little secret that the rackets the players customize are so different than what the average player has in their hands. Tennis players have services that will specialize all the rackets in a players bag so that they feel identical. They make certain the weight and balance is exactly what the player needs. Some like the weight in the head. Pancho Gonzales always had lead tape in his bag and when the match went long he would add a strip about the size of a stick of gum to the top of the head. And it gave him a bit of extra pop on his serve even when his arm had gone tired.

We believe this is a move Paul Annacone has wanted Roger to try for along time. The ATP professionals have the largest group of over 30 year olds playing than ever before. We hope this brings Roger new confidence.
