Caught a few famous faces in the Wimbledon crowd. One was the great Indian player/businessman Mahesh Bhupathi. Hesh is a busy man. He has some great ideas for the future of tennis. He was in the Bryan brothers camp? No? I think it was the Murray players box. It’s all still a blur. The Ball was as expected a party that for some of us is still going on!
We saw the always handsome and dashing Roger Taylor in one of the many hallways Andy paraded with his trophy and have a few words with Andy. Probably told him how proud Fred Perry would be. We know how all of England feels. Even Sue Barker.
We saw Greg Rusedski in the Royal Box. What a great guy he is. A really fine man with a great passion for our sport. Greg was seated near the two A – list actors who were totally annoying and kept standing up. That would have been Bradley Cooper and Gerard Butler , Pity no one explained the nuances and decorum normally followed in the big box.
Check out Bleacher /Report high def team stream feed. They have some great coverage of the tennis. It’s a free app.
There’s some great new tennis books out there. Jimmy Connors. “The Outsider”
John Barrett has a Wimbledon book. There’s also The Wimbledon complete draws book. And our personal favorite. The new book by Neil Harman of the London Times. Neil is a great guy he has a passion for our sport. The book is called ” Court Confidential ”
Kudos to Brett Connors. He is the hottest new tennis photographer ! We were blessed with some of his artistry during the fortnight. Brett will be featured on our site as soon as we can reset the templates. What a truly talented guy. He has been watching tennis his whole life and has a keen eye. His designs are amazing. All of his photography is amazing. We just love his tennis photos the most.
That national politics entered the celebrations in Wimbledon’s Royal Box after Andy Murray’s victory and Alex Salmond, Scotland’s First Minister was yesterday accused of flouting Wimbledon rules by unfurling a Scottish Saltire behind British Prime Minister David Cameron’s head in an apparent publicity stunt. The 4ft wide flag of a white diagonal cross on a blue background, broke All England Club rules which forbid flags more than 2ft by 2ft. The regulations also ban objects or clothing bearing political statements or commercial identification intended for ‘ambush marketing’.
That London bookmaker Ladbrokes suffered around a £10 million pound ($15 million) loss on Sunday during the Wimbledon men’s final, said to be their worst loss in tennis betting history.
