Novak Djokovic is finding peace and tranquility amid the hectic pace of the Wimbledon Championships, with the top seed and some of his team occasionally taking refuge for quiet moments in a local Buddhist temple.
The Serb remains among the survivors of this upset-marred edition and has discovered that the temple is a handy retreat with its location not far from the home he rents near the All England Club. “It’s very calm and quiet, obviously. I stay in a house which is very nearby. This is a usual place which we all visit,” said Djokovic.
“We like Wimbledon and London in general because there’s so many beautiful parks and nature. There is huge amount of pressure and stress and everything involved, so you need to have a place where you know you can switch off and recharge your batteries.”
With Serbia’s main religion Orthodox Christian, Buddhism might be quite a stretch for Djokovic. But he’s only seeking a bit of calm, in the end. “I just can say that it’s a very calm and very beautiful environment where I like to spend time.”
