Below you will find my completed draw for the women’s portion of the tournament. I may be one of few who doesn’t think Serena Williams will walk away a champion. Truth is she’s playing spectacularly. But even the greatest fall from glory every once and a while. And I think that time has come for the youngest Williams sister.
The women’s draw is almost as predictable as you can get. Don’t expect to see too many unseeded players making deep runs. The final eight will see all top ten players, but the match of the tournament will be the semifinal battle between Victoria Azarenka and Maria Sharapova. It’s a shame that they had to be in the same half of the draw. That match will easily be worthy of a final, with Sharapova taking the win and ultimately beating favorite Serena Williams to take the 2013 women’s championship.
This could be the first time in a long time I’ve predicted that the winner on either the men or the women’s side won’t be the top seed.
Note: Matches in boxes are ones to keep an eye on…ones that could have upset potential
