Roger Federer says he always knew Andy Murray was destined for big things. “ I thought Andy was going to win a big one anyway at some point, Federer said. “He’s too good to always keep losing semis and finals. He’s put himself too often in that position time and time again. His game’s very good for all surfaces now. He’s physically superb. . . Roland Garros champ Rafael Nadal skipped the grass court tournament in Halle, which was played the week after the French Open, to prepare for another assault on Wimbledon. He is pleased that the grass court season will be expanded by one week in 2015. Sometimes is not hundred percent fair that you cannot prepare well one of the most important tournaments of the year like Wimbledon, he said. “So I think is a great thing. Nadal, who has won Wimbledon two times says that learning to play on grass takes time. You have to accept that you will hit very bad shots because that’s part of the surface, he said. “You will probably be on court for half an hour, will not have a chance to hit many balls. You have to be patient and accept all the situations that will be happening during the match. But at the end, we are playing in a fantastic tournament in a surface that I think is very nice to play, even if sometimes can be frustrating.” . . Andy Murray says that his mindset coming into Wimbledon has improved. “This tournament obviously means a lot to me,” he said. “That was pretty obvious after the final last year. I just think, because of what’s happened since then that, if I can manage to get myself into the latter stages of the tournament I’d be better equipped to deal with the pressures that go with that. . . Defending Wimbledon champ Roger Federer on being in his nemesis Rafael Nadal s quarter. “ It was never supposed to be easy winning Grand Slams. I’m ready for the challenge. I like tough draws. I don’t shy away from them .I have a very difficult draw with Rafa being in my quarter. If you want to win the tournament here, you anyway have to beat the best.” . . . Madison Keys, who is set to play Heather Watson at Wimbledon, has been in bed for two days with a virus. . . Novak Djokovic and Grigor Dimitrov had fans laughing at the Boodles exhibition with their imitations of Maria Sharapova. Maybe tennis lacks that little bit of enthusiastic part of it, you know, entertainment, fun, Djokovic said. “But it’s the sport that has respected its tradition and integrity for a long time. So hopefully in this modern time, we can evolve, we can do other things that are, let’s say, suitable to the area where we are living.” . . . Maria Sharapova will launch a series of fun and funny videos on the Social Channel .
