From Boodles to Aorangi and finally AELTC (Better known as Wimbledon) |
Pancho and I are having the best time. You’ve read about the great event that Aegon put on at The Queens Club and The fundraiser put on in Ross Hutchins honor. The event was totally fantastic. From there we bounced around the stores. We found Fred Perry and of course each bought a shirt. We ran into our buddy Charlie Salter who is one of Londons best new innovative tennis minds. That means we hit Harrods. Oh we hit it hard. What happens at Harrods stays at Harrods. Enough said.
The Boodles event held at Stoke Park was truly a spectacular event. The media was run by two of the best media pros in the world. Eleanor Preston is a freelance tennis writer of world renown and her partner Faye Andrews. Am I giving Charlie , Eleanor and Faye all plugs. Yes I am. Charlie is CS sports. And El and Faye are the Emilia group. As press officers go they did an amazing job ! They sure made sure the word got out .
What was next. Yep. We were on the grounds of the All England Lawn Tennis Club. AELTC ….We spent four hours walking the grounds. We watched as all the thousands of last minute details were addressed. The plants and flowers are being set up and arranged and hung. Painters are everywhere. Mostly painted green touch ups here and there. The booths are being set up. The guards are doing the last of their orientation. The place is a buzz of action and colors on the practice courts of Aorangi. Come Monday we will be seeing our favorite colors. Green , Purple and Gold. We are off for some fish and chips. My idea not his. Ok a pint or two, too.
This was a tennis tournament.... Like no other. This was a U.S. Open like no other.. Let's start with new logo. It's click art like ours? But we aren't the USTA.
The only way to describe this U.S. open is soaking wet without raining... It's really hard to play tennis when your socks are soaking wet and you are "sloshing" in your shoes. Your shoes get really heavy when they get wet.
What a start. First match in the new stadium and bye bye ladies number one seed and WTA World Number One. Simona Halep. Losing to Estonian Kaia Kanepi.
It was the end of an era at Crandon Park for the Miami Open last year. From the Lipton, to the Nasdaq 100, to the Sony Ericsson, to the Sony, to the Miami Open presented by Itau, Key Biscayne saw it all.
Roger Federer of Switzerland in action during his men's singles final match against Marin Cilic of Croatia at the Australian Open Grand Slam tennis tournament in Melbourne, Australia, 28 January 2018.
Are lefties more successful than right-handed players? Which player admits to smashing 70 rackets a year during his career? All these questions, and so many more, are answered in entertaining infographics in the new book YOU CANNOT BE SERIOUS!
The ATP announced a group of potential host sites for the Nitto ATP Finals starting in 2021, and it includes London, Manchester, Singapore, Tokyo, and Turin.
