Arriving at Wimbledon is always a very special occasion! Anybody who follows tennis know how special the holy ground of tennis is! You can not really explain you have to experience it! For those who have never I will give you an inside look at the Wimbledon Championships! Those who have been here will recognize the experiences I will share with you! Anybody who has never heard of Wimbledon should not ready this blog!
Like every other trip I have take it starts with something I really don’t like and that is Packing! I wait till the last minute to pack my bags just because I know I will do it quick!
Taxi-flight-taxi was the order if the day before arriving at the Wimbledon adidas tennis House! We are staying in the village of Wimbledon for 2.5 weeks, together with the sports marketing devision. As a convenience and service to the players, their new gear distributed from the house! So when i arrived the whole team was in full swing of packing and unpacking the new gear.
Anybody knows to enter Wimbledon this is the street to look for and with the postal code SW19 Wimbledon is know for!
First thing first when you arrive at Wimbledon you need to credentials and a credential is like gold! I am sure many of you would spend a fortune to get a look behind the scenes, I know I would if I did not have the privilege of being invited, however there is no way to buy yourself into the grounds you have to earn it!
After walking into the grounds I was very happy to see a very special friend of mine! Peter Lundgren, he is hear coaching Michael Russel this tournament! Peter and I go way back during the time when both of worked for the Swiss tennis federation with a very young Roger Federer!
Many players were out practicing today even though we had some rain there was plenty of time to get a full day of practise on the grass! Many of you may or may not know but practicing is done at a separate venue located right next to the Wimbledon grounds. It is called Aronagi and they have 21 practise courts. A short video of a small part of the practise facility and some of you may recognize some of the players (Germany well represented)
The faculties are incredible and I must say it was a special day to be here and I look forward to share more stories from the Wimbledon Championships!
I just hope we don’t see to much of this
