Wozniacki Considering Changing Rackets  |

Caroline Wozniacki clearly has not taken note of the fact her golfing boyfriend Rory McIlroy has struggled since changing the brand of clubs he uses by virtue of a 10-year-deal with Nike estimated to be worth more than $US150 million (£100m).

The former world no.1 clearly believes she needs some kind of impetus to jump charge her 2013 campaign for the grass court season after losing all but one of her six matches on European clay. So Wozniacki, sponsored by Yonex since 201, is contesting the Aegon International at Eastbourne with a new racket that shows no sign of any branded names or trademarks.

Wozniacki revealed she’s experimenting with the frame in a bid to add some extra power to her game that has been found wanting of late.

“I’m just tinkering a little bit with my racket,” said the Dane whose experiment began with a win although Austrian opponent Tamira Paszek was forced to retire when trailing 6-2, 2-2. “I’m still under contract with Yonex, so we’re just trying to figure out a racket that can help me a little bit more with my game.

“I just feel like I needed a little bit more power and the racket will help. But at the same time a little bit more control so that maybe I can get a bit more spin on the ball.”

McIlroy was in Wozniacki’s coaching box at Eastbourne’s Devonshire Park after finishing a disappointing 14 over par at last weekend’s US Open in Merion, Pennsylvania. During his final round the Northern Irishman vented his frustration by bending his nine iron in half.
