Besides working with the adidas player development team I also have other activities! One if them is my tennis academy in Amsterdam!
After taking a few days off I was in Ansterdam last week working with my team of coaches and some very special guest from New Zeeland
This is the 2nd consecutive year the New Zeeland Tennis Federation choose to use our academy as their European base. Together with Michiel Schapers we offer a combined effort to educate and deliver the experience of European tennis.
The Head coach is from origin Dutch and a very experienced international coach, Marcel Vos.
Besides tennis, physical and mental training they also get a lesson in dutch
Cuisine (cooking)! Lunch being served!
Team work is everything in development and growth!
Today I switched to the Grass and drove about a 100km down south to the city of Rosmalen where the “TOPSHELF OPEN” is held! Today was a day of some practise sessions and watching many qualifying matches!
The transition for a player is always difficult but also as a coach you need to adapt and adjust your coaching accordingly! The best way is to watch a lot matches and get a feeling of how the courts are playing!
Every grass court plays different and the weather condition are also impacting the court more than any other surface!
However 2 key elements are playing a far greater roll as well and these are the serve&return!
One of the reasons why I co-created the scouting app that allows you to map and track the serve&return and establish patterns of play! If you want you can download
