Stanford Signs Sharapova And Radwanska

The official player field for the Bank of the West Classic was announced, with two top-four players committed for the 2013 event.

Highlighting the field is four-time Grand Slam Champion and No. 2 Maria Sharapova, world No. 4 Agnieszka Radwanska, world No. 14 and 2011 US Open Champion Samantha Stosur, 2009 Bank of the West Champion and current world No. 15 Marion Bartoli and current world No. 18 Dominika Cibulkova.

Defending champion Serena Williams has of now decided to skip the tournament as she is playing a clay court tournament in Sweden the week prior. The Bank of the West Classic is still holding four wild cards in the 28-player field.

Also entered in this year’s event is former French Open Champion Francesca Schiavone, up-and-coming Americans Madison Keys and Jamie Hampton, as well as Kirsten Flipkens, Sorana Cirstea, Sabine Lisicki and Varvara Lepchenko.
