The court in Stuttgart is not like any court! The indoor clay is the biggest challenge of them all! Many courts in history have failed and are still failing but there might be a solution to all of the organizers problems!
It is called “PROCLAY BY CONIPUR” and this a court I know because it is similar to the court I prepared Esther Vergeer on for her 2011 French Open!
The base surface is like a cement hard court that lets through the rain when it is later outside and the top layer is with the clay of the same make as at the French Open!
Because it is indoors the clay stay on the surface and due to the indoor conditions there is no need for watering the court!
I look forward to see how the court holds up through the tournament because this maybe a solution to many clay court fans that want to play year round either outdoor but especially indoor! The low maintenance is going to be the greatest benefit next to playing on a natural clay court surface!
