Andy Murray To Play Lendl In London

Andy Murray will get a chance to face his coach Ivan Lendl in an exhibition match to be held on the fringes of the pre-Wimbledon tune-up at Queen’s Club, London. Lendl, 53, knows a thing or two about the game with his eight Grand Slam titles, though he never managed to achieve his Wimbledon dream.

Murray will be quite at home in the posh London club where he has lifted multiple titles. The Scottish world No. 3 will be trying to back up the most successful grass campaign of his career after playing the 2012 Wimbledon final against Roger Federer and then winning the Olympic gold medal over the Swiss at the All England club a month later.

The Lendl-Murray clash will all be for charity, with Murray teaming with mentor Tim Henman to take on Czechs Lendl and Tomas Berdych.

The hit-and-giggle tennis will raise funds for the Royal Marsden Cancer Charity, where fellow British player Ross Hutchins is being treated for Hodgkins Lymphoma. “I’m delighted to be playing in the Rally Against Cancer event on the brilliant centre court at The Queen’s Club,” said Lendl, tournament titleholder in 1989 and 1990.
