Pat Yeomans, a legend in Southern California tennis, recently passed away. A tennis historian, she personally initiated the local campaign to bring tennis to the 1984 Olympics as a demonstration sport, from which it became a full Olympic sport at the Seoul Games of 1988. . .

After his loss to Grigor Dimitrov in Monte Carlo, Janko Tipsarevic says he needs a break: “This has nothing to do with forehands and backhands. Just a few days off to clear my mind.”. . .

Laura Robson loves playing Fed Cup for Britain, which will face Argentina away this coming weekend. “Team events are always fun anyway but in the evenings we do our little team bonding session of charades and things like that to make our evenings a little bit more fun,” she said. . .

Poland’s Agnieszka Radwanska may be the world No. 4 but she knows that she and her sister Urszula have their hands full in Belgium in Fed Cup this coming weekend: “ It’s going to be a difficult match. They have two good names over there in [Yanina] Wickmayer and [Kirstin] Flipkens, so it will be tough.” . .

Julien Benneteau, who practiced with the injured Novak Djokovic in Monte Carlo and had this to say of the No. 1: “He hits well. But he doesn’t run.”
