Dubai

Singles – Quarterfinal: (1) N Djokovic def. (7) A Seppi 6-0 6-3

Andreas Seppi remains stuck at #20.

Singles – Quarterfinal: (2) R Federer def. N Davydenko 6-2 6-2

This was, as it turns out, an incredibly routine day for the top four seeds, none of whom lost more than six games. For Nikolay Davydenko, that means he will remain below #40.

Singles – Quarterfinal: (3) T Berdych def. (Q) D Tursunov 6-3 6-2

Loss or no loss, it has been a great two weeks for Dmitry Tursunov. For Tomas Berdych, it merely keeps him alive in the contest for the #6 ranking….

Singles – Quarterfinal: (4) J del Potro def. (Q) D Brands 6-4 6-2

…and Juan Martin del Potro keeps the pressure squarely on Berdych. Berdych needs one more win (or a del Potro loss) to keep his spot.

Doubles – Quarterfinal: Erlich/Youzhny def. (1) Granollers/Lopez 6-3 6-4

That must make Jonathan Erlich feel better about his recent results: With a pickup partner, he beat the world’s #2 team. Now he just needs a regular partner.

Doubles – Quarterfinal: Bhupathi/Llodra def. (4) Fyrstenberg/Matkowski 4-6 6-4 10-8

Doubles – Quarterfinal: Bopanna/Ram def. Hanescu/Rosol 4-6 7-5 10-4

Acapulco

Wednesday:

Singles – Second Round: (1) D Ferrer def. (Q) W Odesnik 6-2 6-1

Seven straight wins for David Ferrer, but the points so far are peanuts.

Singles – Second Round: (2) R Nadal def. (Q) M Alund 6-0 6-4

And so we remain on track for the match everyone wants to see: Nadal versus Ferrer.

Singles – Second Round: (3) N Almagro def. (PR) T Robredo 6-4 7-6(7-4)

If Nicolas Almagro can win his next match, he’ll move back up to #11.

Singles – Second Round: (8) H Zeballos def. D Gimeno-Traver 6-2 6-3

This appears to guarantee that Horacio Zeballos will hit the Top Forty.

Singles – Second Round: F Fognini def. A Bedene 2-6 6-4 7-6(7-4)

Fabio Fognini is on the brink of the Top Forty, too.

Singles – Second Round:P Lorenzi def. P Andujar 6-4 6-3

But Pablo Andujar will remain below #45.

Singles – Second Round: S Giraldo def. J Sousa 7-6(10-8) 7-5

A big result for Santiago Giraldo, who still needs one more win to defend his semifinalist points from last year.

Singles – Second Round: L Mayer def. A Kuznetsov 6-2 6-2

Is this evidence that Leonardo Mayer is finally overcoming all his problems? The scoreline looks promising, at least.

Doubles – First Round: (1) Peya/Soares def. Huey/Inglot 6-3 4-6 10-7

Doubles – First Round: (2) Kubot/Marrero def. (Alt) Starace/Volandri 7-5 6-1

Doubles – First Round: Bolelli/Fognini def. (3) Gonzalez/Lipsky 7-5 6-2

Doubles – First Round: (4) Melzer/Petzschner def. (WC) Garza/Reyes-Varela 6-2 6-2

Doubles – First Round: Cermak/Mertinak def. Marach/Zeballos 7-5 0-6 10-4

Doubles – First Round: Cabal/Farah def. Paire/Wawrinka 6-2 6-3

Thursday (So Far):

Singles – Quarterfinal: (1) D Ferrer def. P Lorenzi 6-3 6-1

David Ferrer of course remains on track for another title here — unless Rafael Nadal can reassert himself.

Delray Beach (So Far)

Singles – Second Round: (2) T Haas def. D Istomin 6-4 6-1

Denis Istomin remains a little below #40. Tommy Haas is still at #19 in safe points, but a final would take him to #18.

Singles – Second Round: (Q) E Gulbis def. (3) S Querrey (WC) 6-4 4-6 7-6(7-4)

Ernests Gulbis is clearly having one of his good years. He leaves Sam Querrey still below the Top Twenty.

Singles – Second Round: (8) X Malisse def. (Q) D Munoz-de la Nava 7-6(7-3) 3-6 6-3

Xavier Malisse will gain a spot or two, but he remains below #45 for the moment.

Singles – Second Round: E Roger-Vasselin def. I Karlovic 6-4 7-5

It is looking more and more as if Ivo Karlovic will never be returning to the Top Hundred.

Singles – Second Round: I Dodig def. E Donskoy 6-3 7-5

Not a lot of points yet for Ivan Dodig, but he seems to be having a pretty good year; we’d say he’s on pace to make the Top Fifty this season.

Singles – Second Round: (LL) R Berankis def. (WC) J Sock 3-6 6-4 6-1

Jack Sock will have to settle for a ranking around #125, but he is another who seems to be making genuine progress this year.

Doubles – First Round: (WC) Blake/Sock def. (3) Fleming/Peers 6-2 3-6 10-7

Doubles – First Round: (4) Brunstrom/Klaasen def. Bednarek/Matosevic 5-7 7-5 10-5
