Bernard Tomic’s youthful confidence is hard to hide as the 10-0 Australian approaches his Melbourne park third-round match with second seed and four-time champion Roger Federer.
“I’m 10 out of 10 now with matches, I feel so confident. This is the perfect time to play him. I’ve got a good attitude to win. I’ve beaten a lot of good players over the last past two weeks, especially Novak. I think I can do it if he wins his match.
“I’m not going to say, I don’t have the belief – I do have the belief now. It’s possible. I showed that in Perth, that you can beat these players (including No. 1 Novak Djokovic). Now I’m going to try to beat him.
Tomic plans to try and stay with the Swiss tennis king in the opening set. “If I keep it close in the first set, manage to win that first set, then it can be a different story.
“I’m confident. I’m going to get ready as much as I can to play, all I can do is try to win.”
