Happy New Tennis Year!
Many greetings from the 1st slam of the year and as you all know it is “The Happy Slam”
What a great country city and venue here at Melbourne Park @australianopen
They have gone all out and all in for this years event! Even offering a 1000 Aussie dollar check to the players when they register for their credential! Attached with a message from CEO Steve Wood “this money is a gift that we want you to have to put towards your travel expenses and next year we are aiming to provide the players with a free flight to play in the Australian Open!
The courts are playing much faster than the years before but on both Arena’s it is a bit slower (less play)! The outside court seem to have been played on a lot more (makes sense since it is Australian Tennis Summer)! The qualifying will be going into its last day and we are 48 hours away before the 2013 Australian Open will get on its way!
Today I happen to take a walk from my hotel to the site, which takes 10 minutes and happen to pass by the walk of fame!
I have many fond memories here and my coaching career has had many highlights of which 2 of them came in 1992 and 1995! I could not resist to take a picture for my own picture library
Yesterday I also got a chance to visit the brand new NTC national training center which is the ultimate training ground for tennis professionals! 8 indoor hard courts a gym 5 outdoor hard courts and I believe 6 clay courts!
From the outside it looks like Sydney Opera house and with its Glass walls all around it makes it a tennis aquarium! Absolutely stunning!
I look forward to share more of the inside stories and if you have any questions please post them and I will look forward to answer all if them!
