No word of big withdrawals from next week’s WTA events. The one interesting bit of news is that the WTA is expanding this new tier of $125K events. After holding two at the end of the year, they have upgraded the big Cali Challenger to the $125K level. Sadly, it tends not to be a very strong tournament. But maybe this will help. It will be interesting to see how many other Challengers attempt to upgrade to this de facto revival of the Tier IV tournament.
