Tommy Haas has pronounced himself fit after a relaxing week’s hit at the charity event run by Sir Richard Branson on the tycoon’s personal Caribbean island of Necker.
Haas joined Novak Djokovic, John McEnroe and the Bryan brothers as the main attraction for rich punters at the days-long exhibition and pro-am, interspersed with fine tropical feeds and plenty of beach down time and recreation for players, guests and their families.
Haas did his duty on court – and earned his fee – through an exhibition set against No. 1 Djokovic. “I’ve completed my preparation for the upcoming season with the match against Roger Federer in Sao Paulo and against Novak Djokovic at the Necker Cup,” said Haas, 34, and ranked 21st after a storming comeback to form in 2012.
“Now I’m looking forward to celebrating Christmas with my family in Los Angeles.”
Haas will pick up where he left off as he teams at the Hopman Cup in Perth, Western Australia, with Andrea Petkovic from December 29 at the eight-nation team competition.
