Female tennis players did well when it came to the 2012 Bing search rankings. Last year’s winner Maria Sharapova finished at No. 4 in 2012, but was still the most searched for female athlete. Sharapova finished behind the NFL’s Peyton Manning, golfer Tiger Woods, and the NFL’s Tim Tebow. But she did finish ahead of the NBA’s Kobe Bryant, who was just one spot in front of another tennis player, Serena Williams.
While Williams only took sixth place among athletes overall, she was the most searched Olympic athlete during her run to the gold medal. Serena finished ahead of track athlete Lolo Jones, swimmer Michael Phelps, the NBA’s LeBron James and gymnast McKayla Maroney.
