Minnesota’s Eric Butorac raised over $50,000 for to support inner city tennis programs for the twin cities of Minneapolis and St. Paul. at his fourth annual charity event.
The 31 year-old, from Rochester, Minnesota, was assisted by the doubles partnership of Mike and Bob Bryan as well as the less well-known trio of Michael Yani, Nicholas Monroe and Brian Battistone for the Minnesota Tennis Challenge, staged at Eden Prairie’s Life Time Fitness Club.
Butorac enthused: “It feels so great to give back to the Minnesota tennis community. It is the place where I enjoyed most of my tennis development and hope that many others can share the same opportunities that I had.
“I’m lucky to have friends who are willing to take time in their short off-season to come to Minnesota and help raise money for such a great cause.”
More than 1,000 spectators watched the event hosted by Wayne Bryan and proceeds benefited the Fred Wells Tennis & Education Center, Inner City Tennis, Saint Paul Urban Tennis and the Rochester Boys and Girls Club.
