Attendance has been soaring over the four-year life of the World Tour Finals in London, And now, with a three-year contract extension approved last week by the ATP, the future of the event looks even brighter.
Officials couldn’t help but trumpet the fact that during this edition the one millionth visitor since the start of the London run at the O2 arena passed through the gates.
Sunday’s two semi-final sessions which put Roger Federer into a final with Novak Djokovic in a clash of the world’s top two were sellouts.
Add in Monday’s final’s complete absence of spare tickets and the event will draw a record 263,229 fans and a four-year total of 1,023,438.
“On behalf of the ATP, the players, and all of our event partners, I would like to thank the one million passionate tennis fans who have come through the gates at The O2 over the past four years to watch the best players in the world at the Barclays ATP World Tour Finals,” said ATP boss Brad Drewett.
“We appreciate your incredible support and look forward to welcoming you back over the next three years.”
