Singles – Group A: (1) N Djokovic def. (7) J Tsonga 7-6(7-4) 6-3
Novak Djokovic admits to being tired after this long season, but he clearly wants to end the year strong after a relatively weak second half. And while he has clinched the year-end #1, there is still a strong chance that he could lose it after the Australian Open. The better he does here, the less the odds of that.
Singles – Group A: (3) A Murray def. (5) T Berdych 3-6 6-3 6-4
Andy Murray had a very, very bad patch in the first set, losing 13 of 15 points as Tomas Berdych got his big guns working. Then Murray got things together. Obviously this is a big boost to Murray’s hopes to reach the final — but this is a very, very tough group….
Doubles – Group A: (6) Granollers/M Lopez def. (1) Bryan/Bryan 7-5 5-7 11-9 (Match TB)
It’s a good thing the Bryans have clinched the year-end #1 — they seem to be in a genuine funk right now. Doubles – Group B: (2) Mirnyi/Nestor def. (4) Lindstedt/Tecau 4-6 7-6(7-1) 12-10 (Match TB)
Both these teams have been struggling lately, but Lindstedt/Tecau have been having physical problems on top of everything else. That might have been the difference.
