Andre Agassi and Steffi Graf have chosen the Melbourne-based theme park builder Village Roadshow to take a 51 percent stake in the $50 million Wet’n’Wild water park development in Las Vegas.
The water park is set to open on Memorial Day weekend in May of 2013 Agassi, Graf and Village Roadshow realize they are taking a risk as an earlier Wet’n’Wild park closed in 2004.But Village Roadshow chief executive Graham Burke told Deal Journal Australia that they believe in the concept.
“There are two big audiences. One is local people that haven’t got a lot to do,” he said. “And there’s enormous visitor traffic with gamblers and people coming through with families.”
The park will feature 25 water slides including an oscillating “Rattler” slide and a seven-story speed slide that will drop visitors 57 feet into a giant half pipe.
Agassi and Graf are no strangers to the business world, having invested in hotels, nightclubs and fitness equipment. “This will be an incredible water park, the perfect addition for this fun filled town, featuring a huge range of experiences designed for both families and thrill seekers,” Agassi said in a statement.
