Korean car manufacturer Hyundai has extended its title sponsorship of tennis’s Hopman Cup after agreeing a new deal with the International Tennis Federation.
The firm’s Australian arm, Hyundai Motor Company Australia , became title sponsor in 1998; however it has sponsored tennis’ only international mixed-team competition since its inception in 1988.
“With this commitment we will not only continue our investment in tennis, but will begin a new relationship with the International Tennis Federation,” said Hyundai Motor Company Australia chief executive Edward Lee. “We look forward to sharing the excitement and success of this venture with them, and the legion of tennis fans across the country.”
The 2012/13 Hyundai Hopman Cup will become the first major sporting event to take place at the new Perth Arena in the Western Australian city. The 26th edition of the event runs from Dec. 29 to January 5 and features Novak Djokovic, Ana Ivanovic, Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, Venus Williams and Bernard Tomic.
