Two of the ATP’s young guns, Bernard Tomic and Milos Raonic, donned boxing gloves at the Thailand Open as they challenged some of the country’s top Muay Thai stars in a kickboxing demonstration.
Tomic admitted it was his first time learning the national sport, and joked before his lesson with Muay Thai welterweight champion Buakaw Banchamek, “Is the ambulance here?” He also asked, “They’re not going to hit me or anything, right?”
“No, they won’t, but you’re going to hit him,” the MC told the Australian. “Don’t hit him hard because he will hit you harder. I’m just kidding.”
Tomic and Raonic were given a brief lesson on how to kick before trying their newly acquired skills against the seasoned veterans.
Raonic tweeted afterwards, “Enjoyed a Muay Thai lesson today. Thankful I didn’t get beat up!”
