Andy Roddick may have retired from tennis only days ago when he bowed out at the US Open, but the now ex-player is not one to turn down a pre-arranged event, with the 30-year-old making a hit-and-giggle appearance as planned at a Mohegan Indian gambling resort in Connecticut.

The former US Open champion whose exit from the game leaves the US men in a leadership vacuum, got out his racquet for from light-hearted fun as he participated in a charity event at the Mohegan Sun Arena.

Also on hand was ex-WTA pro Gigi Fernandez and current American ATP youngster Jack Sock. The local celebrity quotient was filled by one of the Real Housewives of New York reality women.

Monies raised on the night went to support the Miracle Match Foundation, which helps people with life- threatening injuries to get a chance to play tennis. Funds from ticket sales which ranged up to $60 each also went to the Connecticut Children’s Medical Center.
