Andre Agassi is taking his post tennis career as seriously, if not more seriously than he did the last decade or so of his on court life when he recommitted himself to the game. Agassi is said to heavily involved in the running of both his educational foundation as well as his West Las Vegas=based prep school After Agassi retired in 2006 he took a close look as to how his businesses were running and did end up replacing a couple of key executives. He told the Huffington Post that the best way to replace a team that isn’t supporting him properly is “immediately. If not sooner.”
He stresses that he wants non family members to become part of his close circle and if they don’t “you need to say goodbye.”
Agassi and his wife, the former player Steffi Graf, are still sponsored by a number of high profile companies including Longines and adidas.
Agassi and his longtime trainer Gil Reyes recently introduced a sports equipment line.
“I connect with people, not companies,” Agassi said. “So when I form a relationship with a company it’s because I have a relationship with its leaders. And I find that I can only form a relationship with a company’s leaders if their approach is authentic, if their product fits within my values and world view. That’s a long way of saying I don’t lend my name to anything that isn’t me.”
