Player News

In yesterday’s Feature, we said that we hadn’t heard anything about Juan Carlos Ferrero retiring.

Now we have.

It was announced yesterday that former #1 Ferrero, who just fell out of the Top Hundred, is ready to call it quits. He is suffering too many injuries. He will play Valencia next month, then hang up his racquet.

Maybe he didn’t like the new rules coming down. On Wednesday, the ATP announced two changes. One was a plan for rule changes related to the problem of players taking excess time between points. The ATP will also try eliminating lets on the Challenger tour. The effect of this is far less clear. Watch for more details in World News.
