The United States Tennis Association (USTA) today announced that American Nick Taylor won the bronze medal in Quad singles competition at the 2012 Paralympics in London, defeating Shraga Weinberg of Israel 1-6, 6-3, 6-4 in the bronze medal match. This marks Taylor’s first medal performance in the Quad Singles Division in the Paralympic Games. With the win, Taylor will be taking home his second medal of the London Games. Yesterday, he and Quad Doubles partner David Wagner captured their third consecutive gold medal.
Taylor, a three-time Paralympian, now has won a total of four medals throughout his career. He has competed in the Quad division of the Paralympic Games since it was first introduced in the 2004 Games in Athens.
As a member of one of the most successful wheelchair tennis doubles team in Paralympic history, Taylor has captured seven Grand Slam titles in doubles with Wagner, including four at the US Open (2007, 2009-2011) and three at the Australian Open (2008-2010). He’s a thirteen-time World Team Cup member, beginning in 2000 including six World Team Cup championships (2003, 2005-07, 2010-11).
