Singles – Quarterfinal: (1) J Tsonga def. (6) M Granollers 6-1 6-2

If Jo-Wilfried Tsonga can win one more match, he’ll earn… five points. Not much reward. But he really does seem to be in good form as we head for the U. S. Open. He leaves Marcel Granollers at #24.

Singles – Quarterfinal: (2/WC) T Berdych def. S Darcis 4-6 6-2 6-0

A pretty amazing run for Steve Darcis, but because this is only a 250 point event, he is still stuck below #70.

Singles – Quarterfinal: (3) J Isner def. D Goffin 7-6(7-5) 6-3

Isner versus Tsonga in the semifinal. Get the radar gun out…. Isner has to win that if he is to keep the #10 ranking; otherwise, he will fall to #11 and Juan Monaco will be #10.

Singles – Quarterfinal: (7) S Querrey def. (4) A Dolgopolov 7-5 4-6 7-6(7-3)

Sam Querrey had three match points on Alexandr Dolgopolov’s serve in the tenth game of the third set, all of which he blew. But he got away with it. The bad news is, he still needs one more win to move in the rankings.

Doubles – Quarterfinal: Marrero/Sa def. Melzer/Roger-Vasselin 1-6 7-5 10-8 (Match TB)

No Key Biscayne, No Problem; New Site, Same Great Miami Open Tennis Event

It was the end of an era at Crandon Park for the Miami Open last year. From the Lipton, to the Nasdaq 100, to the Sony Ericsson, to the Sony, to the Miami Open presented by Itau, Key Biscayne saw it all.
