Roger Federer played an amazing finals in Cincinnati . It was a 20 minute set. He served Novak Djokovic a bagel. It was an unbelievable display of zoned in tennis. A bagel to the number two player in the world. A bagel on a Sunday morning. Meaning a bagel in the finals…AmazeBalls.
Rogers first serve percentage in the first set was 73 percent .. Novaks was a mere 50 percent. Roger had no doubles and 5 aces to Novaks 4 doubles and 2 aces.
The speed of the first set was gone in a blink. Roger was playing like greased lightening. Im still shaking my head. If you had stopped to buy a hotdog you might have even missed the first set.
Novak came alive in the second set. They each held serve till the tie breaker decided the championship. Total match time one hour and 20 minutes. Final score 6-0,7-6 (7). In the end Roger served 8 aces. Novaks serve never really showed up. He had 2 aces.
As usual they were both gentleman and great sportsmen. There was a shot that Novak went almost thru Roger( right at him at 100 miles an hour) at the net. It was unusual and he seemed sorry.
The U.S. Open is around the corner. The countdown has begun. Next Sunday is Arthur Ashe Kids Day. the excitement is growing. We hear that both Roger and Novak are taking next week off to settle into the Big Apple. Stay tuned. Keep your eye on the ball. Bagels at this level still confuse me ….
