No. 1 Victoria Azarenka will venture into uncharted tennis territory as the Belarus belter plays an exhibition in Ho Chi Min city, formerly called Saigon and the one-time capital of South Vietnam back in the day.
The WTA ace is expected to show off her skills on September 20, a date conveniently situated after the US Open in New York and before the autumn Asian tennis swing in Tokyo and Beijing .
Azarenka will play at the city’s Lan Anh Tennis Club. Her most recent success was the London Olympic mixed doubles gold medal, which she won with compatriot Max Mirnyi.
Azarenka has not played since the London games as she rested a knee injury but will be back for the US Open, which starts on August 27.
