Defending champion Novak Djokovic and No. 8 seed John Isner rounded out the quartet of ATP World Tour stars in the Rogers Cup presented by National Bank semifinals with victories late Friday night.

The other two semifinalists are No. 5 seed Janko Tipsarevic and No. 14 seed Richard Gasquet.

Taking to Grandstand Court opposite Germany’s Tommy Haas in quarter-final action, Djokovic weathered a competitive match to advance to semifinal Saturday at Rogers Cup. Though he captured the first set from the veteran player, Djokovic lost some steam heading into the second and Haas pushed the match to a third and deciding set. Despite the German’s persistence, Djokovic managed to clinch the match and semifinal berth with a 6-3, 3-6, 6-3 victory.

Djokovic will meet fellow Serbian Tipsarevic in semifinal competition on Saturday evening at 6:30 p.m. Tipsarevic earned his spot in the final four by defeating Marcel Granollers 6-4, 6-4 in their quarter-final match-up on Friday.

American Isner will also take part in semifinal action on Saturday following his quarter-final victory over hometown hero Milos Raonic. Despite playing only a couple hours before his evening face-off against Raonic, Isner refused to show any signs of fatigue as he commanded the match with his powerful serve. Ultimately downing the Canadian 7-6(9), 6-4 late Friday night, Isner will meet Gasquet on Saturday afternoon at 3 p.m. Gasquet, who downed American Mardy Fish in quarter-final action early Friday evening, will surely be a challenge for the 6-foot-9 star.

During doubles quarter-final action on Friday, Bob and Mike Bryan downed Paul Hanley and Nenad Zimonjic 7-5, 6-1 while Jurgen Melzer and Leander Paes ousted Mariusz Fyrstenberg and Marcin Matkowski 7-6(5), 4-6, 10-6. The third doubles team to advance to semifinal competition at Rogers Cup is Robert Lindstedt and Horia Tecau, who defeated No. 7 seeds Aisam-Ul-Haq Qureshi and Jean-Julien Rojer 6-4, 3-6, 10-7 Friday evening.

Top seeds Daniel Nestor and Max Mirnyi were unable to take part in quarter-final action on Friday night due to scheduling conflicts. The Canadian-Belarussian team will now meet Marcel Granollers and Marc Lopez of Spain at noon on Saturday in quarter-final action. The winner will face Lindstedt and Tecau in semifinal competition later in the day on Saturday.
