Eighth seeds Marcel Granollers and Marc Lopez upset top seeds Max Mirnyi and Daniel Nestor 6-4, 6-4 in the quarter-finals of the Rogers Cup on Saturday in Toronto.

The Spaniards won 80 per cent of their service points, saving all three break points they faced to seal the win in 72 minutes. Mirnyi was denied his 600th career match win in his first opportunity to attain the milestone.

Granollers and Lopez are chasing their third team title of the season, highlighted by their triumph at the ATP World Tour Masters 1000 event in Rome (d. Kubot/Tipsarevic). They also captured the trophy in Gstaad.

For a place in the final, Granollers and Lopez will play fourth seeds Robert Lindstedt and Horia Tecau.
