World TeamTennis Pro League presented by GEICO - Results for Saturday, 7/28  |

The Washington Kastles rewrote sports history tonight by completing an unprecedented second consecutive undefeated World TeamTennis regular season with a 25-14 Overtime victory over the Springfield Lasers in Springfield, Mo. This was the 30th consecutive win for the Kastles, who captured the 2011 WTT title with a 16-0 record. The Kastles won all 14 regular season matches this summer and will try to continue their win streak in the WTT Finals Weekend presented by GEICO, Sept. 14-16, at the Family Circle Tennis Center in Charleston, S.C. Washington is the top overall seed and is scheduled to face the New York Sportimes in the Eastern Conference Finals on Saturday, Sept. 15, at 6:30 p.m. EDT.

The Kastles have not lost a WTT match since July 22, 2010, which gives them the second longest pro sports win streak in history with 30 consecutive wins. The longest pro sports team win streak is 33 games, held by the NBA’s 1971-72 Lakers.

Tonight was the final night of the WTT Pro League regular season. The WTT postseason kicks off on Friday, Sept. 14, with the Western Conference showdown between the Orange County Breakers and the Sacramento Capitals at 6:30 p.m. EDT in Charleston. Eastern Conference rivals Washington Kastles and New York Sportimes face off on Saturday, Sept. 15. The Conference Champions advance to the WTT Finals on Sunday, Sept. 16, at 3:30 p.m. EDT.
