Former Australian Open finalist Marcos Baghdatis will head to the London Olympics with a smile on his face after marrying tennis girlfriend Carolina Sprem in a Croatian castle drenched with atmosphere. The Cyprus player who will be representing his island nation when the Olympic tournament starts on July 28, ended his status as a single in a ceremony in the chapel of the ancient castle of Trakoscan.
Several hundred guests, mostly friends and relatives of the newlyweds, attended, with the Baghdatis side of the family at least 30 strong as they witnessed the nuptials for a couple who first got together three years ago.
With the inevitable paparazzi around the grounds, umbrellas were used as much as possible in an attempt to block the shots, a technique with little effect.
Baghdatis, whose best showing of 2012 was a Munich quarter-final two months ago, did not play at the 2008 Beijing Games due to injury but won a round in 2004 at Athens before losing to Nicolas Kiefer
