The 5th annual Shotgun 21 World Championships will take place this Sunday, July 22nd at the Palisades Tennis Center in Pacific Palisades at Noon. The event which has featured a plethora of great talent by the likes of Isner, Querrey, Harrison, Spadea, Dent, Young, Blake, Russell, Bogomolov, Harkleroad, Stevenson, Tarango, Bogdanovic, Davis, Rostagno, Taino, Adams and too many others to mention, produces some of the best tennis you will ever see.
The event which pits men, women, juniors, pro’s and amateurs against each other in one draw, is scored similarly to ping pong with each game played to 21, no overhand serve, no ‘lets’ and sudden death at 20-all.

The annual Shotgun 21 is held on the Sunday before the men’s pro tournament at UCLA, the Farmers Classic. And takes approximately seven hours to go from about 150 players to 1 winner. Previous winners have included Vince Spadea, Alex Bogomolov and Alex Bogdanovic. It is free for spectators and anyone interested in playing can call Mike Thoeresz at (503) 310-9602.
In previous years, there have been numerous instances of WTA players that have beaten ATP players, juniors who have beaten college players and an incredible array of match ups.
