Beaten Wimbledon semi-finalist Victoria Azarenka is looking forward to a change of atmosphere when she returned in three weeks for the London Olympic tournament to be held at the All England club.
The Belarus player who lost in straight sets to Serena Williams and missed a chance to return to the WTA No. 1 ranking said that the temporary Olympic look of the All England Club will be something to behold.
Among the innovations: players can wear national colours instead of traditional Wimbledon white and advertising hoardings will clutter the normally pristeen green surrounds of the courts.
“I think it’s going to be just interesting, nobody knows how it’s going to be. It’s kind of new and exciting to see how it’s going to turn out,” said Azarenka, who added: “I’m actually really excited to see some McDonald’s or Coca Cola in the back of the court. It will be funny.”
Azarenka was headed home to Minsk for her brother’s wedding. “From there I’m going to practice and prepare for the Olympic Games.”
