Jo Wilfried Tsonga is the only member of the top 10 without a coach, but he continues to make strides even though many players believe it’s critical to have another person watching their technique and plotting match strategies for them.
On Wednesday, the 26-year-old Frenchman reached his second straight Wimbledon semifinal with a four-set victory over Philip Kohlschreiber. He’ll face the tricky Andy Murray in the final four, which will call for some serious game planning, but Tsonga said he’d put his thinking cap on and then consult whoever is around
“Even if I’m alone, I like to ask,” he said. “I like to learn from the others. So every time, when I play, I try to have some advice from other guy like Guy Forget or Arnaud Clément and players who are still on the tour.”
