Daniele Bracciali and Julian Knowle ousted World No. 1 doubles pair Max Mirnyi and Daniel Nestor 6-4, 6-4, 6-4 on Friday in the second round of Wimbledon.

The Italian/Austrian pair capitalised on three of their five break point chances and held in all of their service games to upset the top seeds in one hour and 52 minutes.

Knowle is a former finalist at The Championships, finishing runner-up in 2004, while Bracciali equalled his best showing with the victory.

Mirnyi and Nestor had won 11 matches in a row entering the match, coming off back-to-back title successes at Roland Garros and the AEGON Championships.

Eighth seeds Aisam-Ul-Haq Qureshi and Jean-Julien Rojer defeated qualifiers Bobby Reynolds and Izak van der Merwe 6-3, 6-7(5), 6-4, 6-4 to move through to the third round of a Grand Slam event for the third time this season. Qureshi and Rojer reached the Roland Garros semi-finals and have won two titles this year.

Steve Darcis and Olivier Rochus cruised into the third round with a 6-1, 6-1, 6-4 victory over 12th seeds Santiago Gonzalez and Christopher Kas. The Belgian tandem won 49 per cent of their return points to break serve six times.

Frenchmen Arnaud Clement and Michael Llodra, who captured the title in 2007, upended 14th seeds Eric Butorac and Jamie Murray 6-3, 7-5, 6-4, breaking serve on all three of their opportunities.

In delayed first-round action, reigning champions Bob Bryan and Mike Bryan made a confident start to their title defence with a 6-3, 6-2, 6-4 victory over Robin Haase and Jarkko Nieminen. The second-seeded Americans broke serve four times, all against the left-handed Nieminen, and won 89 per cent of their second serve points.

Tenth seeds Jurgen Melzer and Philipp Petzschner also won their opener, rallying past Carlos Berlocq and Leonardo Mayer 4-6, 7-6(0), 3-6, 6-3, 6-4 in three hours and seven minutes. The 2010 titlists are aiming to win their third Grand Slam title together.

Ivo Karlovic and Frank Moser eliminated Roland Garros quarter-finalists Matthew Ebden and Ryan Harrison, beating the Australian/American pair 3-6, 6-3, 6-4, 7-6(3).
