The dream of somehow, someday winning Wimbledon drives Andy Murray as Britain enters the 76th summer since a home player won the men’s singles title back in 1936 through Fred Perry.
The No. 4 Scot will try to achieve the momentous feat yet again when the Championships begin on Monday. Adding to the home pressure is the London 2012 Olympics, to be contested three weeks later on the grass of the All England club.
“I think about it (Wimbledon success) a lot when I’m training, when I’m struggling in practice or when I’m finding a running session or a cardio session very tough,” Murray told British media said as he completed final tune-up for the grass-court Grand Slam.
“It’s something you think about and tell yourself to give you that extra motivation.”
Murray’s Wimbledons have been ended at the semi-final stage at the last three editions. He was drawn to play former Top five Russian Nikolay Davydenko in the Wimbledon first round.
