Ask people what springs to mind at the mention of Nicolas Mahut’s name, and most will tell you that he was the man that lost the longest match in history. Or, the one that came within the width of the net-tape of beating Andy Roddick to win the title here five years ago.
With a 6-4, 6-7, 7-6 over the defending champion and top seed Andy Murray in the second round of the AEGON Championships at The Queen’s Club on Wednesday, the Frenchman is determined to change the public perception of him.
Mahut will now take on the prodigiously talented Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov, who defeated Gilles Muller of Luxembourg in straight sets.
