The Texas Children’s Ticket Turnback program at the 2012 US Men’s Clay Court Championship at River Oaks Country Club earned $20,570 for the Jan and Dan Duncan Neurological Research Institute it was announced Thursday at Texas Children’s Hospital.
The Texas Children’s Ticket Turnback program allows fans to donate tickets to sessions they cannot attend at the US Men’s Clay Court Championship back to the tournament. The River Oaks box office then resells the tickets at face value, and the full resale amount is donated to Texas Children’s.
“The Institute is specifically designed to create an environment that fosters active exchange of ideas and the collaborations needed to accelerate discoveries and bring us closer to our ultimate goal of developing new and effective treatments for patients,” said Huda Y. Zoghbi, M.D., the director of the Institute. “We are so grateful for our continued partnership with the River Oaks US Men’s Clay Court Championship. Their generosity helps us provide hope for patients with devastating neurological disorders.”
In addition to supporting the hospital with the Ticket Turnback program, the US Men’s Clay Court Championship also works with Texas Children’s to arrange for ATP World Tour stars to visit with patients at the hospital.
“We really enjoy our partnership with Texas Children’s,” he said. “It is with great pride that we can once again make a donation to the hospital on behalf of our ticket holders who have supported the Ticket Turnback program. The generosity of our fans to allow us to resell their tickets provides not only this financial benefit to the hospital but also allows us to make the tournament accessible to even more people. It’s really a win-win program that we’re happy to see be successful.”
In its three years, the Texas Children’s Ticket Turnback has raised more than $45,000 for the hospital.
The 2013 US Men’s Clay Court Championship will be held April 8-14 at River Oaks Country Club.
